Staying Close to Aten

One way a person becomes closer to Aten is through prayers and hymns. Those who worshiped Aten in the ancient past have provided Atenists with many beautiful hymns that we are able to use not only as a part of our Scriptures but also as a book of songs in praise to the Aten the One God.

We also pray to Aten and share our faith about Him and our beliefs with others on a regular basis.

Some passages from our texts:

“You are never alone. The love of God is everywhere.”

“You should never be ashamed of your love for Aten. He was not ashamed of you being brought into this world. Share the light of Aten with all peoples of the world.”

To stay close to Aten, a regular, daily practice should be developed that is surrounded by devotion to Him and the teachings provided in the sacred texts. Meditating and contemplating on these texts and their meaning will help a person maintain a close knit bond with Aten and you to remain with His loving light.

A Hymn of Praise to Aten who is Like Gold

A hymn of praise to you, O you who rise like the glimmering light of gold, and who floods the world with light on the day of your appearance. You give light to the course of the circle above the earth.

O you who are a great Light, who shines in the heavens, you strengthen the generations of men with the Nile-flood, and you cause gladness in all lands, and in all cities, and in all the temples.

You are glorious and praised because of your splendours, O you who are the mighty one of victories, you who are the Power of all powers, who makes strong your throne against evil ones; who are glorious in majesty in the divine boat, and who are exceedingly mighty.

Atenism: The religion for all

This article was written by Vizier, August of last year.

Emhotep,

There is no “Type” of person for Atenism. Big,little, tall, shorts, rich, poor, scholar, layperson. Atenism is a religion that is for all people, from all walks of life. It is a Universal Faith. Show me a person who is not sustained by Aten and that would be the only person who could argue not having a right to the religion of Aten (No such person exists, of course).

Atenism is for all people.

No person needs to know ancient history, ancient texts or complicated rituals to be an Orthodox Atenist. They only need to turn to the One God of the Universe, in humility and obedience. They only need to adopt the simple credo “Love God and Do No Harm”. A person who believes in in the One God of the Universe, and is wise enough to realize that a wise and compassionate approach to living is the best course of action, already has the makings of an Orthodox Atenist.

It doesn’t matter who you were in the past, it only matters who you want to become in the present and who you want to be in the future. Bottom line: You are not a slave to the past, you can be a child of the present.

It doesn’t matter where you been, it only matters where your going. There are some people who feel they can seek Aten because they have lived lives that were less than ideal, some downright rough. That they are not worthy to seek Aten or be with others who seek Aten, these are delusions. The person who longs for Aten and will be obedient to Akhnaten, is a made new! They are like the Phoenix rising from the ashes of a life that was going nowhere to a life that will take them to the Paradise Worlds offered to them by Aten.

Don’t let yourself or others tell you that bliss is not your birthright. Don’t let yourself or others keep you from the One God of the Universe.

Aten reminds You that He is there for you with every sunrise.
